Yard House Restaurant - Dedham, MA

Location: Legacy Place Dedham, MA
Website: http://www.yardhouse.com/menus/snacks.aspx
Items Ordered: Sweet Potato Fries, Moo Shoo Egg Rolls, Parmesan Crusted Chicken, Mac & Cheese2, and the Mini Trio Sampler

Upon entering the Yard House, I was genuinely surprised to find the environment that I saw around me. The Yard House is situated as part of the Legacy Place shops near PF Chang's and a number of other cookie-cutter type of places and shops. Though the Yard House has numerous locations,it feels anything but.

A fancy bar sits in front of the entrance with a TON of beers on draft and friendly bar service. You can choose from a variety of martinis too (which my date and I did of course!). We were seated in an extremely comfortable leather type covered settee and table near the kitchen. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of most of the menu items and could recommend her favorites. Though I did feel she was flirting a bit with my date, she tried to hide it nicely with some innocent teasing on the amount of food we ordered.

The food was delicious and the right temperature. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the chicken entree had a wonderfully creamy mushroom sauce with just the right number of mushrooms in it. The dessert was to die for; rich and creamy and the right size for a sampler.

All in all, I would give this venue 3 hearts. The company I was with was better than the service and though the food had some originality there was not enough variety.

Cremeland - Manchester, NH

Cremeland (as the name states) makes you think of ice cream but this place is a lot more. Yes, they have ice cream. Homemade in fact (none of that Blake's crap that some, no names mention GoldenRod, try to pass off like their own homemade ice cream) made by one of the owners himself; the recipe created and followed since the day they first opened more than four decades ago. The flavors change, sometimes based on customer or employee suggestions, and sometimes just with the freshest ingredients that are available when a new batch is ready to be made. And yes, this is the same Cremeland that you may have seen on TV when a show was done about the unbelievably delicious fried dough ice cream sundae. But this review is more than about their ice cream. This small drive-in restaurant is not in the best part of Manchester, NH. Yes, the outside is not always clean and easy to look at but the owners of Cremeland are constantly washing down the order windows, the outside eating tables, and e

The Village Cup - Jericho, VT

The Village Cup located in Jericho, VT is the perfect vision of a Vermont breakfast place. The restaurant is a bit confusing; as you walk in you are greeter by a hostess (usually) and you can either be seated at one of the tables, or order from their extensive beverage list and get a pastry to go. My company and I opted to sit down at a table and try the menu. We were seated at a very small table near the small fireplace but the gorgeous picturesque window overlooking the backyard and the mountains.  As stated, the tables are small and very close together - something that we morning people are not very happy with before our first cup of coffee in the morning. The multiple times I have been here, the service has not been very good and this morning was no exception. Our waitress was a young girl who never told us the specials and barely paid attention as we ordered our beverages. A few minutes later she came back and told companion #1 that his beverage order could not be made because so

Pops - Boston, MA

Pops was a spur of the moment "pop in". I was meeting a friend for some munchies and drinks and it had tables outside and was right in front of you when you leave South Station. I had heard good things about their happy hour specials as well as their bar menu so we thought we should try it out.  We ordered the Margherita flatbread, the street cart fries with cheese and bechamel (sans duck confit), the rice balls, and the stuffed mushrooms.$11 for a flatbread smaller than a salad plate, unacceptable but for half the price, it was worth trying out. We also had ordered dessert and it was delicious but I cannot remember exactly what it was so I will not bore you with those details. The food was amazing but the drinks small, weak (not properly made), and expensive. The worst part, we received our bill and none of the appetizers were half off. We spoke up to our waitress, who seemed less than cordial, and she said the discount is placed when you receive your bill and no
