Cremeland - Manchester, NH

Cremeland (as the name states) makes you think of ice cream but this place is a lot more. Yes, they have ice cream. Homemade in fact (none of that Blake's crap that some, no names mention GoldenRod, try to pass off like their own homemade ice cream) made by one of the owners himself; the recipe created and followed since the day they first opened more than four decades ago. The flavors change, sometimes based on customer or employee suggestions, and sometimes just with the freshest ingredients that are available when a new batch is ready to be made.
And yes, this is the same Cremeland that you may have seen on TV when a show was done about the unbelievably delicious fried dough ice cream sundae. But this review is more than about their ice cream. This small drive-in restaurant is not in the best part of Manchester, NH. Yes, the outside is not always clean and easy to look at but the owners of Cremeland are constantly washing down the order windows, the outside eating tables, and emptying the garbage. Thirty five cars (approximately) can fit in the lot and the customer service is always impeccable. Awhile back, they used to have "Cruise Nights" and retro cars would come to show off, popcorn was $.25 and hotdogs were 2 for a $1. But that has gone by the wayside.

Cremeland's food has been consistently fantastic for the 20 years that I have eaten there. The batter on all of the seafood and onion rings has remained the same (and out of this world!!!!) and the Scholand's hot dogs are the best you can ever imagine. The dogs are steamed in hot water and then grilled giving the amazing flavor of the dog speak for itself without the worry of a "snap" when you bite into it; this cooking technique makes the dogs' texture perfect! While the dogs are cooking, the buns are rolled in real butter and toasted making them crispy on the outside and soft once you bite inside. Get your dog(s) with the works - mustard, onions, and relish - and you will not be sorry.
Cremeland is one of the fantastic places that still serves the old fashion french fries, no steak fries or McDonald's cuts here. And these fries are hand made by one of the employees everyday. Get them well done and you will not be unhappy! They are crispy outside, tender inside, always piping hot, and the flavor cannot be beat. But the real winner here is their onion rings. They are thin, individual rings of onions, hand separated and then soaked, battered, and fried upon order so each batch is freshly made, hot from the oil, and never clumped together. The batter to ring ratio is perfect - and you have to try them with their homemade tartar sauce; which thankfully has never included dill in its recipe.
Their menu ranges from hot dogs to peppersteaks (actual sirloin pounded tender and cooked on the grill!), hamburgers, chicken burgers (again, real chicken breasts pounded tender and breaded!), clams, scallops, fish and chips, and so much more.
One of my favorite places to eat during the summer (open March - October) and I promise to write more reviews in the near future. I can't stay away! You should come soon and order your mocha frappe, onion rings, and cheeseburger - you will not be disappointed.

I will consistently give Cremeland 7 hearts!!!

The Village Cup - Jericho, VT

The Village Cup located in Jericho, VT is the perfect vision of a Vermont breakfast place. The restaurant is a bit confusing; as you walk in you are greeter by a hostess (usually) and you can either be seated at one of the tables, or order from their extensive beverage list and get a pastry to go. My company and I opted to sit down at a table and try the menu. We were seated at a very small table near the small fireplace but the gorgeous picturesque window overlooking the backyard and the mountains.  As stated, the tables are small and very close together - something that we morning people are not very happy with before our first cup of coffee in the morning. The multiple times I have been here, the service has not been very good and this morning was no exception. Our waitress was a young girl who never told us the specials and barely paid attention as we ordered our beverages. A few minutes later she came back and told companion #1 that his beverage order could not be made because so

Pops - Boston, MA

Pops was a spur of the moment "pop in". I was meeting a friend for some munchies and drinks and it had tables outside and was right in front of you when you leave South Station. I had heard good things about their happy hour specials as well as their bar menu so we thought we should try it out.  We ordered the Margherita flatbread, the street cart fries with cheese and bechamel (sans duck confit), the rice balls, and the stuffed mushrooms.$11 for a flatbread smaller than a salad plate, unacceptable but for half the price, it was worth trying out. We also had ordered dessert and it was delicious but I cannot remember exactly what it was so I will not bore you with those details. The food was amazing but the drinks small, weak (not properly made), and expensive. The worst part, we received our bill and none of the appetizers were half off. We spoke up to our waitress, who seemed less than cordial, and she said the discount is placed when you receive your bill and no
